The Prophet Mosque

The Prophet's Mosque , located in Madinah, is one of the most noble and important mosques in Islam. This mosque is not only a place of worship but also a witness to the history of the struggles of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the early Muslim community in spreading Islam. Masjid Nabawi was built by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) himself in the first year of Hijrah, and since then, it has become a center of spiritual and social life for Muslims.

One of the main special features of Masjid Nabawi is the presence of the tomb of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), which is located inside the mosque. This tomb has become a place of pilgrimage for Muslims who come to offer their greetings and prayers for the Prophet. Visiting the Prophet's tomb brings a deeply profound and blessed feeling, reminding every Muslim of the sacrifices, struggles, and efforts he made to spread the religion of Islam.

When someone intends to visit Masjid Nabawi, either before or after performing Hajj or Umrah, they should have the intention to visit (ziarah) Masjid Nabawi itself, not with the intention of visiting the tomb (maqam) of the Prophet (SAW).

This is because undertaking a long journey specifically for the purpose of worshiping Allah (SWT) is only allowed to be done for three mosques: Masjid al-Haram, Masjid Nabawi, and Masjid al-Aqsa. Therefore, one should not intend a journey for worship in the form of a visit to a specific tomb, including the tomb of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The Prophet (SAW) said,
"Do not undertake a journey except to three mosques: Masjid al-Haram, my mosque (i.e., Masjid Nabawi), and Masjid al-Aqsa." (Narrated by Bukhari, no. 1189, and Muslim, no. 1397)
